The project aims at organizing a conference for students from all scientific fields at the University of National and World Economy in order to provoke interest among colleagues from other universities at home and abroad. The purpose is to attract students with different points of view. ‘Youth Economic Forum’ is a project launched back in early 2004. Its creator is the Student Council at the University of National and World Economy. In the very beginning the idea gets the support of the university rector - Prof. Borislav Borissov, under whose patronage the forum is held today.
Over the past six years the scientific event established itself as one of the most successful and prestigious events in UNWE and became one of the most significant and authoritative student initiatives in the country. The main goal and task of the Forum is to contribute to the academic development and professional exchange of experience of the student community.
Over the years guests at the event have been:
• 2009 - Mr. Traycho Traykov, Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria, Prof. Sergey Ignatov, Minister of Education, Youth and Science, Mr. Krassimir Kostov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ivan Garelov, a popular journalist and TV host, etc.;
• 2008 - Mr. Sergey Stanishev, Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Dr. Peter Dimitrov, Minister of Economy and Energy (2007 - 2009.) ànd Prof. Stati Statev, first vice-rector of the University of National and World Economy and member of the management board of the Bulgarian National Bank;
• 2007 - Prof. Borislav Borissov, advisor of the president on issues of education, science and economic development, and Dr. Peter Chobanov, executive director of the Agency for Economic Analysis and Forecasting (2005 - 2009);
• 2006 - Mr. Sergey Stanishev, Prime Minister of Bulgaria (2005-July 2009) and Mr. Stanimir Barzashki, executive director of the Executive Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises;
• 2005 - Mr. Rumen Ovcharov, Minister of Economy and Energy (2005 - 2007), Mr. Lubomir Datzov, Deputy Minister of Finance (2003 - 2009). Dr. Boryana Pencheva, Director of directorate “Management of EU funds” in the Ministry of Finance until 2009;
